In-House QA/QC Inspectors

An inspection is only worth what you can prove later.

If you run quality for a contractor, your work product is a record: who inspected what, against which requirement, who signed, and what happened to the finding. Field PM gives in-house QA/QC inspectors hold points with real sign-offs, a library of inspection forms ready to fill, weld inspection end to end, and NCRs and punch items that track to closure — on the same projects the crews and the PM are already working in.

→Hold points get walked past because nobody knew one was due
→Inspection forms live on paper and get scanned in at the end, if at all
→A sign-off is a signature on a sheet nobody can find
→NCRs are opened in a spreadsheet and never formally closed
→Weld inspection, NDE, and repairs are tracked in three different places
→The turnover package is assembled from memory in the last week
01

Hold points that actually hold

Build an inspection workflow as a sequence of steps, mark the ones that are hold points, and say which role has to approve each. Work does not move past a hold point until that person signs electronically, and the signature, name, and time are recorded on the step. Start from the civil, electrical, and piping workflows that ship with the system, or build your own.

02

Inspection forms ready on day one

A library of pre-built QA/QC forms and checklists is included, and you can add your own. Fill a form on a phone in the field, attach photos, and it is saved as a PDF in the right folder of the project's Job Book automatically. Forms can also be filled from inside the daily report, so the inspection and the day it happened are linked.

03

Weld inspection in one place

Fit-up and visual inspection, NDE requests and results, repairs, hardness tests, heat-treatment records, and holds all hang off the individual weld on the weld map. Welder qualifications, WPS and PQR records, filler metals, and material traceability are tracked alongside. When the system is ready, test packages and the turnover data book are generated from what was recorded, not retyped.

04

Findings that go somewhere

Raise a non-conformance report with photos and a disposition, and it stays open until someone closes it. Punch-list items work the same way. Open findings are a list you can pull up by project, so "is everything closed?" has an answer before the walkdown, not during it.

05

Built for where inspections happen

The app works on a phone, reports queue when there is no signal and sync when it returns, and you can dictate a report instead of typing it — in English or Spanish. Photos attach to the record they belong to. Inspector certifications and NDE equipment calibrations are tracked with expiry dates so a lapsed cert is caught before it is on a report.

FAQ — Field PM for QA/QC Inspectors

Do QA/QC inspectors need a paid seat?+

No. QA/QC officers are free and unlimited, along with foremen, safety officers, and subcontractors. Your company pays for office and PM seats only.

Can we use our own inspection forms?+

Yes. The library ships with pre-built QA/QC forms and checklists, and you can add your own forms and your own workflows. Filled forms are saved as PDFs to the project.

What does an e-signature approval record?+

Each hold-point step records who approved it, their role, and when. The step cannot be approved by someone without the role you assigned to it, and work cannot advance past it until it is approved.

Is weld mapping an extra cost?+

No. Weld mapping, weld logs, NDE tracking, welder qualifications, and data books are part of the base product, not a paid add-on.

We inspect for clients, not for our own crews. Is this page for us?+

There is a separate page for third-party inspection firms that covers how that works. This page is written for inspectors on a contractor's own payroll.
