Interior finish schedules in one workbook
Architectural finish information is usually spread across the A-600 schedule sheets, the finish legend, spec Division 09, and a hardware schedule that comes in three submittals later. The superintendent and the finish subs still need it in one place they can sort, filter, and mark up. This workbook puts the three core schedules (doors, room finishes, paint colors) together with the three field checks that decide whether interiors go well: framing inspection before board, drywall finish level before primer, and a cut list for ordering.
Door, frame & hardware schedule
Use one row per opening, numbered to match the floor plan. The columns follow the usual A-600 layout: door number, room/location, width, height, thickness, door type (elevation letter), door material (HM, WD, AL, FRP, glass), door finish, frame type and material, fire rating, hardware set, glazing, and remarks.
- Fire-rated openings turn red. A rated opening needs a labeled door and a labeled frame, rated glazing if it has a lite, and self-closing, positive-latching hardware. Check the rating against the wall type on the life-safety plan, not just the door schedule. The two sometimes disagree, and that's an RFI. Requirements come from NFPA 80 and IBC Section 716 as adopted by your AHJ.
- The hardware set count at the bottom counts openings per set. Compare it with the hardware submittal before anything is ordered. A miscounted set is the most common reason a building sits waiting on hardware at the end of the job.
- Remarks is where coordination goes: card readers, electrified hardware, silencers for acoustics, swing direction, kick plates.
Room finish schedule
Use one row per room: floor, base, walls, wall paint code, ceiling, and ceiling height, using the codes from the finish legend (CPT-1, LVT-1, RB-1, P-2, ACT-1). Enter the room's length and width and the sheet calculates:

These are gross numbers for rectangular rooms. Deduct openings (about 3 LF of base and 21 SF of wall for each 3'-0" × 7'-0" door) and add soffits, bulkheads, and returns by hand. They are quick checks against a takeoff, not a replacement for one. For a full takeoff, use the quantity takeoff template.
Paint color schedule
Use one row per paint code: manufacturer, color name, color number, sheen, product line, substrate, location, primer, and number of finish coats. Two columns are calculated from the room finish schedule:
- Rooms Using: how many rooms list that code as their wall paint. A code with zero rooms is either an accent color used on elevations or a leftover from an earlier revision.
- Wall SF: the gross wall area of those rooms. Enter the coverage rate from the product data sheet and the sheet estimates gallons (wall SF × coats ÷ coverage).
Pick sheen by use: flat or matte for ceilings and low-traffic walls, eggshell for most offices and corridors, semi-gloss for doors, frames, and wet areas, epoxy where the spec calls for washable, high-abuse surfaces. Higher sheen shows every joint, which is where the drywall finish level comes in.
Framing inspection checklist
This is the last chance to fix anything inside a wall cheaply. The checklist covers layout and rough openings, stud size, gauge, and spacing, track fastening, deflection track, headers and jambs, plumb and straight, backing for everything wall-mounted, rated walls built to the listed design and taken to deck, fireblocking (IBC Section 718, verify against your AHJ's edition), MEP rough-in inspected before close-in, penetrations within punch-out limits, insulation, and control joints. Each item gets Yes / No / N/A, and each "No" gets a location and a corrected date.
"Ready to board?" stays at NO until every item is answered and every deficiency has a correction date. Missing backing is the finding that costs the most later. Once board is hung, a grab bar or wall-mounted TV without backing means cutting and re-patching finished wall.
Drywall finish level verification
The top of the tab summarizes Levels 0–5 in plain language: what the finisher does at each level and where it's typically used. Levels are defined in GA-214 (Gypsum Association, Recommended Levels of Gypsum Board Finish) and referenced by ASTM C840 and most 09 29 00 spec sections. The spec on your job governs.
The verification log records, for each area and surface: the specified level, whether the space has critical lighting or gloss paint, the level actually verified, and who checked it. Result shows MEETS SPEC or BELOW SPEC. Flag shows Consider Level 5 when a room has critical lighting or gloss paint but the spec calls for Level 4 or lower. Raise that with the architect before primer. Once the painter has rolled the wall, it's a dispute about who pays to fix it.
Check finish under the lighting the room will actually have. A work light held flat against the wall shows what a raking window or wall-washer will show later.
Cut / material list
Enter item, material, size or profile, length in feet and inches, quantity, waste %, and stock length. The sheet returns total LF, LF with waste, and stock pieces to order (rounded up to whole sticks or rolls). It works for metal studs and track, furring and hat channel, corner bead, trim, base, and backing. Filter by material before you send the order, because the totals mix materials.
